What is the RCIA (RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS)?

Are you in search of a deeper relationship with God?

Are you interested in learning about Christian initiation, Christianity, the Catholic Faith?

Have you been attending the Catholic Church, Mass, for years but just never “gotten around” to joining?

Would you like to be Baptized?  Most Catholic Churches offer an opportunity to help you answer these questions and more. We call it the RCIA, or the Right of Christian Initiation of Adults. The RCIA consists of:

Meeting with other inquirers to pray and share questions and concerns of  faith within the confines of Christianity.

Catholic RCIA, Right of Christian Initiation is an opportunity to share life's experiences and the time to reflect on them. Learn about the tradition and history of the 2000 year old Catholic Church, while experiencing our beliefs and worship. Being connected to a community that worships together, seeks to serve others, and joins in fellowship.

RCIA Catechumenate is in the startup phase.  Please call Sister Bernadette for further information at 757-583-0291.

Inquirer classes are held twice a month on Sundays, 9:15 to 10:15 am in the school faculty room.  Inquiring minds call Sister Bernadette.

DO YOU HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT THE CATHOLIC FAITH?

Are you interested in becoming Catholic or know someone who is?

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is for you.

Who may attend RCIA?

The process of initiation is for adults who ...

· are unbaptized and want to become Catholic Christians through the sacrament of baptism, confirmation and Eucharist;

· are baptized Christians (in another faith tradition or Catholic) who want full sacramental membership in the Roman Catholic Church through confirmation and Eucharist;

· attend a Catholic Church because of a loved one or spouse and are not sure if the Catholic Church is for them, but are willing to ask questions.

What if I change my mind?

By coming to inquire and finding out what is involved one is not making a commitment. During the first few months one is free to leave at any time. One may take all the time needed before making any commitment. There is no pressure and one should feel free to decide when one is ready to make such a commitment.

RCIA is going on now- call Sister Bernadette at the Parish Office.
